Jalapeno Joys

It seemed like such a good idea...

Jalapeno Joys

No more jalapeno peppers

with fire-filled molecules!

My malformed mouth purses,

kissed with blisters.

Nausea bubbles my gullet,

sirens warn of overindulgence,

incinerators burn within

salsa drenched intestines

“No more for me!”

I cry in agony

Inspiration

This poem came from a writing challenge where the assigned subject was jalapeños. I have no idea why anyone thought that was a sensible topic, but once the idea lodged itself in my head, I couldn't resist imagining the consequences of eating just a few too many.
