Oh, Really!

 

Do you think I'd miss your smelly socks,

or those underpants riddled with holes?

Do you think I'd miss your loud snoring,

or that belly all pudgy with rolls?

 

Do you honestly think that I'd miss you?

Do you really believe that I'd care?

I'd be oh so happy without you!

I'd be pleased with you no longer near!

 

Do you think I'd miss your complaining,

or your prancing around like a God?

Do you think I'd miss doing your cleaning,

or seeing your filthy feet never shod?

 

Do you honestly think that I love you?

Do you really believe I'd be sad?

If you really believe in such nonsense

then really, I think you are mad!

 

Do you think I'd miss your newspaper

without its back page in my face?

Do you think I would care to be single

when you are such a disgrace?

 

Do you honestly wish you could leave me?

Who would cook for you; and grovel; and slave?

Would there be another daft woman

who'd let you work her into her grave?   

                                         

Miss the sex? Oh, don't make me laugh!       

As a lover, you don't have a clue!                 

I think it because sex is a region                   

where your mommy can't show you how to!    

                                

If you want to leave me, then please go on, go!

Sincerely! It would be very good!                 

Go on! Get the hell out of here!                    

I really believe that you should!                

Inspiration

Sometimes a poem begins with careful planning. This one began with sheer exasperation after an argument with someone I lived with. Writing has always been one of the healthiest ways I know to let frustration escape, and turning that moment into something creative was far more satisfying than staying angry. Wait! No! No, it wasn’t!
