Through the Rift began with an image of model Blade Williams, taken during a photoshoot in a park in Leicester. Dressed in dark clothing, wearing a striking wolf mask, and carrying a replica katana, he already embodied a sense of mystery and power. But the true transformation happened in post-production, where reality itself was reshaped.
I placed Blade into a bluebell forest, then distorted the trees in Photoshop to create the effect of space twisting and warping as a dimensional rift opened. The rift itself was crafted from scratch, with energy spilling outward, bending the world around it. Rays of light burst through, enhancing the sense of movement and transition, as if Blade was phasing between realms. I deliberately leaned into deep blues to evoke the feeling of nighttime magic—a moment suspended between worlds.
The result is an image charged with energy, as if the air itself crackles with unseen forces. There’s a cinematic quality to the scene, with the interplay of light and shadow lending it an almost dreamlike realism. The swirling, distorted trees heighten the tension, reinforcing the sense that something unnatural is happening—something powerful and unstoppable. Blade’s poised stance, framed by the chaos, adds to the dynamism, as if he is both part of the rift and emerging from it.
Through the Rift is available in my shop and makes a striking addition to my Shadowed Realms gallery.
