If I Chose My Dream

Imagine never having to settle for ordinary...

If I Chose My Dream

There'd be dinosaurs and dragons all walking the walk

and witches and wizards all talking the talk

and comets and meteors would light up the night

and lightning and thunder would fill us with fright.

In a circle of safety, I'd stand with my wand,

my robes would be billowing, (and I would be blonde).

My hair would be whipping with wind and with rain,

and my arms would raise heavenward as I sang a refrain.

The energy from my aura would flash out in surges

and the faeries would laugh and would fly on the verges.

The clouds would come rolling in their blanket of mauve,

and wolves would be howling their song as they roved.

Runes and ‘cantations would fire up the air

and flames from the fires would violently flare.

Hex-gems and weave-wards would power up in strength

and my wand would spark energy up its entire length.

A fulcrum of power and of magic I’d be

if I wrote the dream that I would most love to see!

Inspiration

This poem came from waking after a particularly dull, unpleasant dream and wondering why we have so little say in what unfolds while we sleep. If I could choose my dreams, they certainly wouldn't involve the ordinary. They would be filled with magic, mythical creatures and impossible adventures.
