You Know Who You Are
Ego always tells the best stories...

You Know Who You Are
Always in baggy blue boxer shorts
the same kind you wear every day,
Every day!
with smelly veldskoene, on dirty feet
covered by thick winter rugby socks,
staple of white Zimbabwean men.
A scruffy out of shape t-shirt
sporting one or two holes,
and a lewd joke,
covers two thirds of your distended belly,
a third of your belly slops
nakedly over the top of your shorts
A chilled beer bottle in one hand,
a lit full-tar cigarette in the other,
a smile on your face
and sadza and chakalaka in your beard,
you stand by the fire
telling heroic tales of you.
Scraggy greasy hair worn too long
curls up with the perspiration
beading your chunky neck.
A perfect frame for your lobster red face.
and yet, being a male,
you are better than me!
Hah!
