Storm Brushed

When the tempest breaks, not all who fall are heard.

Illustration for Storm Brushed by Catherine Knee of Creatoria Nyx. A close view of a worn leather boot descending toward a fragile butterfly on wet ground, soil scattering in the air, symbolising fragility and inevitability.

Storm Brushed

Clutching a soggy branch,

crumpled and tattered,

the butterfly wept.

Battered by the storm,

shredded wings shivering,

it dropped,

spiralling to the ground

with no escape

as the man’s boot

came down.

Inspiration
Sometimes life feels like a relentless storm that shreds everything delicate within us. “Storm Brushed” came from that space, the quiet ache of knowing you are trying to hold on, wings torn and spirit frayed, while the world remains unaware. It is about fragility and inevitability, but also about the haunting beauty that still lingers in the moment before the end.

Storm Brushed by Catherine Knee of Creatoria Nyx explores the fragile tension between survival and surrender in life’s fiercest storms.
